Prince Shima

After touring in summer 2019 to support the release of the album 'P.S. I Love You', most of the fall/winter has been devoted to writing new material. Summer 2020 will see the release of 'Fantasy Themes Vol.1', a collection of instrumentals based on high fantasy and science fiction. Tonally, this album fully embraces a Vangelis palette and eschews the dark pop colouring of previous Prince Shima albums in favour of more experimental formalism. Prince Shima's approach to exploring other-worldliness is by creating the unreal through musical arrangements. Rather than thinking of real instruments producing melodies in real spaces, Prince Shima works a kind of aural sorcery, conjuring up fictional instruments to produce sonic phenomena, and manipulating the very space in which they occur.
